350 crore allotted for Vijayawada-Gudur 3rd railway line

Vijayawada: The Indian Railways sanctioned funds for various development works in the SC Railway for the year 2019.
The SC Railway in a press release on Wednesday gave the details of the projects and funds allocated by the Union government. The works include electrification of lines, construction of new lines, construction of bypass lines etc in two Telugu States and parts of Maharashtra.
A sum of Rs 175 crore has been allotted for Vijayawada-Bhimavaram-Nidadavolu doubling and electrification. The doubling project was sanctioned in the year 2011-12 for a distance of 221 km at an estimated cost of Rs 1,504 crore. Section between Mandavalli-Kaikaluru and Pallevada-Akiveedu for a distance of 25 km is nearing completion.
The SCR allocated Rs 200 crore for Kotipalli-Narsapur new line project. The project was sanctioned in 2000-01 for a distance of 57 km at an estimated cost of Rs 2,120 crore. The State government would bear 25 per cent of the project cost. The works which involve construction of important bridges are progressing at a brisk pace.
A sum of Rs 2 crore was allotted for Kadapa-Bengaluru new line project. The project was sanctioned in 2008-09 for a distance of 255 km at an estimated cost of Rs 2,030 crore. Length in SCR under Andhra Pradesh Jurisdiction is 205 km and the balance in SWR under Karnataka is 50.40 km.
An amount of Rs 350 crore allotted for Vijayawada-Gudur 3rd line project. The 3rd Line project was sanctioned in the year 2015-16 for a distance of 287 km at an estimated cost of Rs 3246 crore. Earthwork and bridge works are in progress.
A sum of Rs 280 crore was allotted for Guntur-Guntakal doubling project. The doubling project was sanctioned in 2016-17 for a distance of 443 km at an estimated cost of Rs 3,631 crore. The expenditure incurred on this project during the past 2 years is Rs 215 crore. The works under the sections between Nallapadu- Satalur and Pendekallu-Dhone at a length of 55 kilo meters is in fast progress.
