3.50L beneficiaries to get house-sites in East Godavari

Kakinada: Deputy Chief Minister Pilli Subash Chandra Bose has said that the government is ready to distribute house-sites to 25 lakh beneficiaries by Ugadi as per the directions of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
After reviewing about the implementation of sand supply, drinking water problem and housing for all with the officials at the Collectorate here on Saturday, he said if necessary the government will take five acres of land from Adikavi Nannaya University in Rajamahendravaram for the distribution of house-sites.
He said the Chief Minister was very much particular to distribute house-sites on Ugadi as assured and monitoring the issue every day. Due to height of pipeline at coffer dam of Polavaram project, the farmers were facing problem to get sufficient water for cultivation and the collector was discussing the matter with the project officials, he pointed out.
Collector D Muralidhar Reddy said as many as 3.50 lakh beneficiaries were identified in the district for housing scheme. As many as 7,750 acres of land required for the scheme and 2,000 acres of government land was available and not even a single acre acquired against the rules, he made it clear.
Lands relating to endowments, education department and wakf board were not taken and in Telugu University, there were only 10 students and 14 staff and it is having 25 acres of vacant land, he added. Moreover, a proposal was under consideration to allot five acres of land of Nannaya University to Telugu University, he added.
