Tirumala police on Wednesday arrested four persons, who were wanted in the Manimanjari Guest House theft case which created flutter as the guest house was located in the Sri Padmvathi Guest House area where VIPs coming for darshan of Lord used to stay.

Tirupati: Tirumala police on Wednesday arrested four persons, who were wanted in the Manimanjari Guest House theft case which created flutter as the guest house was located in the Sri Padmvathi Guest House area where VIPs coming for darshan of Lord used to stay.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Tirumala Additional SP Maheswar Raju said that the four, who were nabbed in the desolated place behind Nandakam Guest House Complex on the hills identified as Sriram, Jagannatham, Sriram and Seethaiah while three more involved in the theft are still at large.

On a tip about four suspicious persons quarrelling among themselves for sharing the booty near Nandakam Guest House, a police party led by Inspector D Kondaiah rushed to the area and took them into custody and recovered Rs 80,000 cash, 40 grams of gold and also five costly mobile phones including iPhone from them.

The total value of the properties recovered from them including cash was valued at Rs 3.2 lakh. The gold was derived after melting one of the two stolen chains. Additional SP said that based on a complaint from Vijayasena Reddy of Hyderabad, who came along with his family for darshan of Lord, stayed in Manimanjari Guest House for two days on July 1 and 2 in Tirumala. The Tirumala police

registered the case and took up investigation.

In the complaint to police, Sharmila Reddy, one of the family members of Vijayasena Reddy, reported to the police that she found her hand bag containing valuables including two gold chains and mobile phones missing in the room no 4 in which she stayed along with other family members after she woke up early in the morning on July 2. The total value of the properties stolen was Rs 4 lakh.

The theft created a flutter and TTD Chairman YV Subba Reddy also sought the police to expedite the investigation to nab the culprits.

Even, as the police were on the lookout for the miscreants involved in the theft, another theft took place in Sannidam Guest House adding more pressure on the police. Raju said that based on the interrogation in which the four revealed that one Ramu and two of his friends also helped them in the burglary the police stepped the search for them to nab them soon.
