Amaravati: As part of eradication of corruption and delivering transparent governance, the new policy of e-procurement would be commencing from January 1, 2020, informed Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in a statement on Thursday.

Under the new system, all tenders related to purchase and services will be on e-procurement portal. All the government departments will implement same format.

Every year, the Government spends more than Rs. 15,000 crores for the purchases and services in all the departments. This amount is utilized for the purchase of required machinery and other items.

Of this Rs. 15,000 crores, only Rs. 3,181crores of purchases and services was made using e-procurement system. Around Rs. 12,000 crore worth purchases and services have not followed any specific format, informed in the statement. Rs. 2,099 crores were paid for 4,083 tenders in the name of goods. Rs. 1,082 crores were paid for 153 tenders in the name of services.

Moreover, the supplies are of low quality. Apart from this, there is no scope for the verification on quality of supplies, and there is no question on whether the product is good during payment of bills, the authorities government observed.

The Chief Minister stated that every tender from the government should be public-friendly, qualitative, transparent, accountable, and corruption-free.
