The YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who has been implementing several welfare schemes ever since he became chief minister of Andhra Pradesh will launch yet another new scheme on Thursday. As per the scheme, sheep and goat units will be distributed to women belonging to BC, SC, ST and minority communities between the ages of 45 and 60 through Rythu Bharosa Kendras with government financial assistance. The scheme is named as Jagananna Jeeva Kranti. The government is prepared to spend Rs 1868.63 crore to distribute 2.49 lakh sheep and goat units where each unit contains either 14 sheep or goats.

Including the cost of transport and insurance, the prices have been fixed at Rs 75,000 where beneficiaries can purchase any species of sheep such as Nellore Brown, Macharla Brown, Vizianagaram breeds, Black Bengal in goats, or native breeds. Only one unit is distributed to each beneficiary. The AP government has entered into an agreement with Allana Foods for this purpose.

The government hopes that their cultivation will provide employment to landless poor women. The government has formulated a transparent process to avoid any corruption in the process of purchase and distribution of these units. The scheme will be implemented in three phases with the distribution of 20,000 units in the first instalment till March 2021, 1,30,000 units in the second instalment from April to August 2021 and 99,000 units will be distributed from September to December 2021 as the third instalment. CM YS Jagan will launch the scheme through video conference today.
