Amaravati: AMIDST Covid-19 regulations, the Andhra Pradesh State Assembly is being convened for the second time during the pandemic from Monday.

Opposition Telugu Desam Party would try to raise the heat in the Assembly during the session which is likely to continue till December 4 on various issues like the government failure in curtailing the spread of coronavirus and the rising number of Covid-9 cases throughout the State among others.

The ruling YSR Congress would certainly steamroll with its majority to get the Bills passed in the Assembly since it enjoys majority in the Assembly but it is yet to gain majority in the Council.

However, it is going to face tough time in passing certain Bills in the Council. Bills like AP Fisheries University, Land Survey Bill, construction of houses and others may not face much resistance in getting passed.

For instance, the Bill which is going to replace ordinance to impose value of the property to fix the house tax in the towns and cities may face stiff resistance in getting passed in the Council.

This time the security arrangements have been strictly beefed up to prevent any incidents like people gathering to raise slogans against the government.

There is another first to the present session. For the first time, the media is not allowed to report the proceedings directly. It is not clear whether the media would be allowed even up to the media point. It may be recalled that during the peak pandemic period, the media was allowed to attend the proceedings last time. For the reasons better known to the administration, the media was not allowed this time.

Former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Opposition leader in Council Yanamala Ramakrishnudu appealed to the Speaker and the Council Chairman to allow the media to report the proceedings.
