Amaravati: Maintain student-teacher ratio
Chief Minister directs officials to conduct teacher transfers online while ensuring maximum benefit to students Criticises the previous govt's transfer policy which resulted in single teachers being allotted to 7,991 schools, bringing down the quality of teaching in state schools There will be continuous appraisal of students of Class 6 to Class 10 and data on their performance to be placed online
Amaravati: Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the officials to maintain the student-teacher ratio and affect the transfers accordingly and said that schools should be spruced up before the reopening on August 3.
During a review meeting on Naadu-Nedu held here on Wednesday, the officials placed the data before the Chief Minister about the proposed relocation of teachers to match the teacher-student ratio.
The Chief Minister said that the transfers should be done online and should be oriented towards the benefit of the students.
Due to the method followed in 2017, single teachers were allotted to 7,991 schools and most of the schools have been closed down. The decisions at that time were taken only to demoralise government schools and to encourage private schools, he alleged. The education in government sector has suffered a lot, he said while adding that uniform and books were not given even in October and November.
Now there should be a constant appraisal on the students from Class 6 to Class 10. The data on the performance of the students should be placed online which gives a detailed overview of the strengths and weaknesses of the student to take corrective measures. An app should he developed for digital learning where the doubts can be cleared through video call, the Chief Minister said. Regarding Naadu-Nedu, the Chief Minister said that the works should be completed by July-end as the schools are reopening on August 3.
Standard operation procedure (SOP) should be prepared on maintaining the quality in revamping of schools under Naadu-Nedu and people should know about the high quality of work, he said adding that Naadu-Nedu was one programme which he likes very much.
The engineering assistant in village and ward Secretariats should be involved in the exercise, he said.
Officials said that Rs 533 crore is available with the Parents' Committees. Maximum amount is being spent in Guntur district and the work has speeded up after the lockdown has been lifted last week. The works are being expedited with the appointment of joint collectors, the officials said. Jagananna Goru Mudda should have the same menu and quality in schools all over the state, the Chief Minister said and insisted that there should be no delay in payment of bills and a constant monitoring should be done at ground level from district collector and downwards.
A toll-free number should be set up in all schools to register complaints to government by students and parents on the amenities. Hygiene should be maintained in the schools and for Jagananna Vidya Kanuka kits, measurements for shoes should be taken on June 8 and 9, he said.
School education minister Audimulapu Suresh, school education principal secretary, Rajasekhar and other officials attended the review meeting.
