Amaravati: Reveal expert panel findings on Polavaram irregularities
BJP State president Kanna Lakshminarayana demanded that Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy reveal the expert committee findings on alleged irregularities that took place in Polavaram, Amaravati and PPAs during the previous TDP regime.
Amaravati: BJP State president Kanna Lakshminarayana demanded that Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy reveal the expert committee findings on alleged irregularities that took place in Polavaram, Amaravati and PPAs during the previous TDP regime.
He also wanted the government to make public the findings of SIT which probed into the Visakhapatnam land scam.
The State government's decision to terminate the contract awarded to Navayuga Engineering company for execution of Polavaram Project works and awarding contract to Megha Infrastructure Engineering Limited under the reverse tendering system caused delay in project works as a case is pending in High Court, the BJP leader pointed out.
Speaking in an interview to The Hans India, Kanna said that Jagan claimed that irregularities to the tune of crores of rupees took place in the Polavaram Project works based on the report submitted by an expert committee constituted by the State government. But subsequently, the government had failed to take action against the accused, he pointed out. To expose the irregularities, Jagan should ask the Centre to conduct a CBI probe into Polavaram works, Kanna suggested. He also demanded that Jagan should prove his allegations of corruption against the TDP government over the capital construction works. Kanna said the government should also make public the Special Investigation Team report on Vizag land scam.
Kanna alleged that following the State bifurcation, the then Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu looted AP on the pretext of earning a brand name for the residuary State and Jagan was following Naidu's footsteps after levelling corruption charges against the previous State government.
Reacting on the disturbed environment between the Centre and State over the Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Kanna opined that the State government should follow Centre's suggestions on PPAs.
He pointed out that the Centre suggested to the State not to disturb favourable environment in the name of renegotiating already entered agreements. If there is evidence of corruption, then decision can be taken on any particular PPA, he observed.
Kanna pointed out that when the YSRCP was in Opposition, Jagan had alleged that the TDP indulged in corruption to the tune of Rs 5 lakh crore. The YSRCP also published books against Naidu and lodged complaints with the President and Prime Minister. But wondered why Jagan was keeping silent now after assuming charge as the Chief Minister.
The BJP leader wonder if there was any 'hidden understanding' between the YSRCP and TDP. He also opposed the decisions taken by Jagan to give high ranking posts in his government with a gross monthly salary of Rs 4 lakh to those who had earlier worked in his company. Kanna pointed out the real estate sector went into a crisis due to non-availability of sand and lakhs of construction workers across the State were finding it difficult to eke out a living. Jagan announced that he would provide transparent, corruption-free governance, but within five months after coming to power he has been trying to suppress the Opposition and also imposed restrictions on media too.
