Kadapa: BJP state president Somu Veerraju demanded that the State Election Commission (SEC) issue new notification for local body elections afresh by cancelling the elections held before lockdown.

Addressing party workers here on Thursday, Veerraju alleged that the YSRCP government had misused the power in large scale in securing more than 50 per cent of ZPTCs, MPTCs unanimously.

He stressed that his party after coming to power in 2024 will complete all the pending irrigation projects in the Andhra Pradesh. Questioning the statement of Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy that his government would complete irrigation projects by spending Rs 40,000 crore, he said there was no need to spend such huge amounts and alleged that Jagan was planning to loot public money in the name of projects adding that Jagan had amassed crores of rupees after he became Chief Minister AP.

He promised that the BJP would complete all projects at a cost of Rs 20,000 crores in Rayalaseema region.

He said what was the use of appointing an SC woman as home minister as she has no power even to transfer DSP cadre officer.

The BJP state chief said people were vexed with the family politics in Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and were looking towards BJP as the only alternative to end family rule in these states. He claimed that the BJP was the only party which has every right to rule the country as it has never encouraged family politics.

Veerraju said former chief minister N Chandra Babu Naidu has to answer the people why he could not construct capital with Rs 7,200 crore he had spent. He demanded High Court should be in Rayalaseema region.

Party vice-president C Adinarayana Reddy, party leaders S Vishnuvardhan Reddy and others were present.
