Andhra Pradesh Government cheating women on non-existent Disha Act: TDP
TDP State general secretary Panchumarthi Anuradha demands the Home Minister to explain whether anybody was booked or punished under the Disha Act till now
Amaravati: TDP State general secretary Panchumarthy Anuradha on Thursday accused the Jagan Mohan Reddy government of cheating women of AP in the name of a non-existent law like the Disha Act.
Anuradha asked as to how a person occupying a high position like the Chief Minister could tell lies and mislead people without any conscience on such aspects of administration like the laws and the enactments. This government has not only undermined the Constitutional institutions but also made a mockery of the Disha law which is nothing but a mirage, she said.
Addressing a press conference, the TDP leader demanded that the Home Minister to explain whether anybody was booked or punished under the Disha Act till now. Was it not true that the CM and his Ministers were making false statements on this Act till now? A case under Sec 420 should be filed against the Chief Minister for this. For nearly a year, the ruling party had kept the people in the dark about this law.
Anuradha offered to quit politics, if the YSRCP Ministers prove that the Disha Act was effective in the State. Unfortunately, the government is bringing an amendment to the Disha law despite the fact that there was no such law at all. The Jagan regime is behaving in an irresponsible manner towards the people without any respect for their sentiments and welfare, she said.
She asserted that not a single woman victim of atrocities had been rendered speedy justice under the Disha Act so far. Not a single perpetrator of atrocities on women was booked or punished. It was alarming that the Women's Commission was also nodding its head for the non-existent Disha Act. The women of the State would give a fitting lesson to the ruling party for its betrayals, she added.
