The Coronavirus outbreak in the country has hit every corner of the state be it schools, colleges, malls, theatres and etc. The latest one to be effected is Lord Balaji hill shrine atop Tirumala. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has reportedly decided to cancel the rituals and restrict congestion of pilgrims for religious events.

The TTD EO said that they have never faced such a situation before, yet our main focus is to ensure the smooth going of religious events for the lord without allowing pilgrims to congregate in big numbers.

He asserted that the weekly rituals like Sahasra Kalasabhishekam, Vishesha Pooja and daily rituals like Vasanthotsavam would not be performed till the next announcements is made while they gave clearance to Srirama Navami celebrations at Vontimitta temple as per schedule provided with some restrictions to decrease the large turnout of devotees, "

On the other hand, TTD has also decided to postpone the ground-breaking ceremony of its new temple at Bandra in Mumbai in the wake of spread of virus. "As per advisories from the central and state governments, we have initiated a number of precautionary steps," Singhal said.
