COVID 19 case registers in Nellore: HM&FW Dept confirms it as a positive case

Andhra Pradesh on Thursday reported its first positive case of the new Coronavirus in Nellore. A youth who had returned from Italy was admitted to GGH with symptoms of dry cough tested positive and the Government also confirmed it. A release by the Health, Medical and Family Welfare Department on Thursday also clearly indicated it.

In fact, the Tirupati based Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences, the Nodal Centre for testing corona cases across the state, which tested the samples on Tuesday, confirmed as interim positive and they had alerted the district administration too. But there has been a delay in the announcement leading to panic among the local population as the officials started shifting other family members and servant maid and others.

They also started a survey in the area and data collection even by senior officials like City Municipal Commissioner and others which raised eyebrows on the developments. Now, along with the youth tested positive, his family members and others have been isolated in the special ward located in the Government General Hospital. Another person from Italy has also been kept under observation. Officials said, out of 7 returned from Italy, five persons were quarantined at their residences in the district and their results have to be declared.
