Vijayawada: AP Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Gopala Krishna Dwivedi said that the results of AP 2019 general elections may get delayed. Even after EVMs counting is finished, for the outcome of the final results it will take some more time.

With the orders of the Supreme court, after the counting of VVPAT slips the final results will be declared, for which an additional 6 to 7 hours time will be taken.

The political parties and the people of the state are eagerly waiting for the polling results on 23 May. Now with the court directions, the results will be delayed. At few constituencies, it may cross midnight 12 for the outcome of the final results.

At morning 8 am the counting process will begin. Firstly Service votes and Postal ballot votes will be counted and by the afternoon 2 pm the counting will be completed in most of the constituencies. Usually, in the evening at 5 pm, the final results will be declared. But this time, with the counting of VVPAT slip the official result declaration process is going to get more delayed.

As per the directions of the Supreme court for every Assembly constituency 5 VVPAT's has to be counted randomly. In the same way, under the Parliamentary constituencies, the VVPAT's of five polling centers has to be counted.

The Returning officers and Observers will be only allowed for the counting process of VVPAT slips.

Though the EVMs counting process will be completed by the afternoon at counting centers. The final results will be announced after the counting of the VVPAT slips and comparing them with EVM votes.
