The Andhra Pradesh government has taken another crucial decision of abolishing the Janmabhoomi committees introduced by former chief minister Chandrababu Naidu. The government has issued orders to this extent.

The Andhra Pradesh government has taken another crucial decision of abolishing the Janmabhoomi committees introduced by former chief minister Chandrababu Naidu. The government has issued orders to this extent.

In 2014, CM Chandrababu Naidu initiated the Janma Boomi committees at village, zonal, municipal and district levels. These committees are responsible for selecting beneficiaries in relation to the state government schemes.

However, the opposition alleges that all of them are TDP activists, only benefiting TDP activists and fans. Atrocities and corruption charges were reported on some of the committees.

The Jagan government almost sidelined those committees after its arrival. In their place the village volunteer system was established in place of Janma Boomi committees.One village volunteer was assigned for every 50 homes.
