District Collector AMD Imtiyaz said the good news for the poor people living in government lands. On Thursday, he reviewed issues of land distribution and land acquisition in his camp office with officials. The collector advised that the poor people residing in uninhabited government lands in the district should apply for regularization of their land.

The poor living below the poverty line has to pay Rs 1who are staying in government lands within 100 square yards. Residents who are staying in more than 300 square yards of public land can regulate their living space by paying a fixed price according to government regulations.

"The poor, who reside in objectionable government land, have to file their applications at the Tahsildar and Village Secretaries for regularization of their home," Collector advised.

Revenue authorities should organize village councils and educate the public to take advantage of this opportunity. Officers will review the applications received and take action to regulate eligible poor places within 120 days.

Over 2.71 lakh poor people in the district have been found eligible for housing. This requires 4,497 acres of land and 2,132 acres of government land is currently available. He directed the revenue officials to expedite the land acquisitions from private land.
