Chittoor District witnessed poor voting percentage in Municipal Elections

The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission officials said 32.23 per cent polling was recorded across the state till 11 am.

The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission officials said 32.23 percent polling was recorded across the state till 11 am. Prakasam district recorded the highest at 36.12 per cent while Srikakulam district recorded the lowest at 24.58 per cent. From time to time the pattern of municipal elections is monitored by the authorities through the Command Control Room. Bars lined up at polling stations as people gathered to cast their votes.

District wise polling percentage in municipal elections is as follows.

Krishna district - 32.64 per cent

Chittoor district - 30.12 percent

Prakasam District - 36.12 per cent

YSR‌ District - 32.82 per cent

Nellore district - 32.67 per cent

Visakhapatnam District - 28.50 per cent

Kurnool District - 34.12 per cent

Guntur - 33.62 per cent

Srikakulam - 24.58 per cent

East Godavari - 36.31 per cent

Anantapur - 31.36 per cent

Vizianagaram - 31.97 per cent

West Godavari - 34.14

Andhra Pradesh governor Biswabhushan Harichandan and his wife exercised their right to vote. He called on every citizen to exercise their right to vote and appealed to the people to vote as he had exercised his right to vote with the responsibility of being the first citizen of the state.

The polling for the municipal elections in the state of Andhra Pradesh will begun from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Elections are underway for 12 corporations and 75 municipalities. However, while the four municipalities are already unanimous, the High Court has given the green signal for the Eluru Corporation elections.
