APSRTC to launch Courier door delivery service in Vijayawada region soon

RTC Vijayawada Region is gearing up for courier door delivery services soon. RTC parcel service is already popular. RTC officials have been providing door delivery for bulk parcels for years. It is used by garment and vegetable traders. Companies such as AP State Aids Control Society (APSACS), MedPlus, Apollo (Drugs) and Bridgestone (Tires) have also picked up RTC for the transportation of educational books. In the region, one van and two autos are allocated to send these parcels to the concerned individuals/organizations. Depot Goods Transport (DGT) vehicles are also heavily used.
They are charged at Rs. 20 to Rs 300 per quintal for delivery within the city limits. Door delivery has been made available to all those who have sought it since July in Vijayawada, Machilipatnam, and Gudivada as demand has improved. The parcel information is immediately communicated to the concerned customer over the phone. If they ask for door delivery, they charge a fixed fee. Officials say that RTC is favored for shipping services due to better service, lower charges than other companies, and shorter delivery times.
However, RTC Vijayawada Regional Officials are planning to launch a new Courier Door Delivery service in the parcel sector. Courier covers are booked just like other companies. Courier service is also expected to be popular as RTC services are moving to towns and cities as well as remote villages. Courier Door Delivery Services are not available at RTC till now. The region earned Rs 12 crore last year through parcel transportation. It aims to raise Rs 15 crore this year.
RTC uses advanced technology in freight transport. This makes it possible to deliver the goods quickly. Parcels coming from different places are referred to the Parcel Section of the Regional Office later, they are assigned a number and placed in the prescribed ranks. They are taken photos and connected to the computer. When a customer arrives to pick up their parcel, It is delivered within a few minutes. A freight tracking system is also being implemented. This allows the user to know the level of the booked freight/parcel.
RTC parcel services are already popular with customers off late we are planning to start a new courier door delivery service in the region with a fixed price. We have buses available for delivery of courier goods/covers to remote areas.
