Vijayawada: Krishna district Superintendent of Police Sarvasrest Tripathi said that all precautionary measures were taken to maintain law and order and to avoid any untoward incidents for the nomination process which commenced on Monday.

The nomination process for Lok Sabha and Assembly constituencies will conclude on March 25.

Only five members per candidate will be allowed to enter the election returning office following the Election Commission rules strictly. Only three vehicles per candidate will be allowed, said the SP.

He said that police bandobast arrangements were made at the district collectorate, Machilipatnam where the returning officer office was situated.

He said that as a precautionary measure, a DSP rank officer and a nodal officer were deployed at the election returning office. Section 144 under Act 30 was imposed at Pedana, Gudiwada, Kaikaluru, Pamarru, Nuzvid, Tiruvuru, Mylavaram, Nandigama, Jaggaiahpeta and Avinigadda.

He said that there are 12 assembly constituencies and three Lok Sabha constituencies in the district and tight bandobust arrangements were made at the election returning office and all the vehicles will be stopped 100 meters away from the office of the returning officer.

All the people should feel the responsibility and cooperate with the police for the smooth conduct of the elections, said the Superintendent of Police.
