Tirupati: The TTD board is likely to be constituted soon. It is learnt that many high profile persons, including people from big corporates, businesspersons, politicians and personalities from film industry are vying to be on the board.

As of now, the board is functioning with Ongole former MP Y V Subba Reddy as the Chairman.

Speculation has been going on social media for the last two days that the government appointed two cement company owners, a Telangana-based businessman and Chandragiri MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy as board members.

But there has been no official confirmation from either the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) or endowments department and no GO to the effect has been issued so far.

According to TTD sources, Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is examining the issue and there is a possibility that the number of members may be increased from present 19 to 25. However, to do so, the government will have to bring an ordinance.

In fact, amendment of TTD Act will have to be ratified later by the state Assembly.

Sources say that the government may bring in an ordinance as approval by Assembly will not be a problem since it has absolute majority in the House.

Sources said that the pressure on the government is high from political leaders from ruling party along with businesspersons from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharashtra for a slot in the TTD board.

According to YSRCP sources, more than 100 recommendation letters were received by the CMO officials for the TTD board membership.

TTD chief Subba Reddy and Government Chief Advisor Ajay Kallam are said to be scrutinising the list before submitting it to the Chief Minister for approval.
