Vijayawada: Biswabhushan Harichandan has been sworn in as Governor by Andhra Pradesh High Court acting Chief Justice C Praveen Kumar in a colourful ceremony at the newly-renovated Raj Bhavan here on Wednesday.

Earlier, Chief Secretary L V Subrahmanyam read out order of President of India Ramnath Kovind appointing Biswabhushan Harichandan as Governor of Andhra Pradesh.

Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Leader of Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu, Speaker of Assembly T Sitaram, TDP leader in Council Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, ministers Pilli Subhashchandra Bose, Botcha Satyanarayana, Anil Kumar Yadav and others were present.

After swearing-in ceremony, the members of the Cabinet had taken a group photo with the Governor.

Biswabhushan Harichandan is the first Governor of Andhra Pradesh to assume office in the capital city after bifurcation.

He has rich experience in public life and is a renowned writer, advocate, scholar and was instrumental and inspirational in the drafting of Rehabilitation and Resettlement (RR) policy of the Central government.
