Kakinada: BJP State executive member and former Godavari Urban Development Authority director (GUDA) Ganni Satyanarayana demanded the government to scrap the SSC public examinations to be conducted in July in view of Corona pandemic.

Speaking to media here on Friday, Satyanarayana said in view of growing number of corona cases, the interaction between teachers and students will be hazardous and pose a threat to one and all.

Hence the scraping of examinations would prevent further increase of cases and safeguard the health of students and teachers, Satyanarayana said and urged the government not to put the lives of students in health risk by forcing them to write the exams.

He said that Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and some other states have already scrapped the Class X exams. A similar action by the state government would be a welcome step to protect the students as well teachers from Covid-19 menace, he pointed out.

He said the government can promote the students based on their previous track record. Federation of Andhra Pradesh Teachers Organizations (FAPTO) K Subramanyam said the decision of state government to open the schools three days in a week due to Corona virus has been opposed by FAPTO.

With Central government hinting not to open the schools till August 15, the FAPTO made it clear they were forced to boycott classes on these days due to fear of Covid-19.
