BJP leader Vishnu Vardhan Reddy laments at KCR over his stand on Lift Irrigation scheme at Pothireddypadu
BJP state vice president Vishnu Vardhan Reddy has lamented at KCR for his approach on the AP decision to build a lift irrigation scheme upstream of Pothireddypadu Head Regulator to fetch water to Rayalaseema district.
BJP state vice president Vishnu Vardhan Reddy has lamented at KCR for his approach on the AP decision to build a lift irrigation scheme upstream of Pothireddypadu Head Regulator to fetch water to Rayalaseema district. He said that KCR is once again trying to deceive the people of Rayalaseema. Vishnu urged all the parties to support the government in this regard and asked the chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy to go forward to implement the decision of constructing the lift irrigation to fetch Srisailam water to the state.
Earlier, days after the government of Andhra Pradesh headed by chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has issued a GO over the construction of lift irrigation scheme Upstream of Pothireddypadu Head Regulator to fetch water to Rayalaseema districts from Srisailam, the Telangana counterpart chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has taken a serious objection to it on Monday and asked the officials to lodge a strong protest with the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB).
KCR as popularly known as at a review meeting held on irrigation projects at Pragati Bhavan expressed his displeasure with AP for unilaterally going ahead with the project, which hurts the interests of the Telangana State. He said that the project is against the provisions of the AP State Reorganisation Act, 2014.
To everybody's surprise, it is the first time that K Chandrasekhar Rao has come out against AP after YS Jagan Mohan Reddy took over as CM of the sibling state in 2019. At Monday's review meeting, Chandrasekhar Rao felt that the AP had committed a mistake by not consulting Telangana as both the states had right over Srisailam waters and on top of it, AP went ahead without obtaining the approval of the apex committee," KCR said. "I will do my best to stall the project," Rao added.
KCR points out that if AP diverts Krishna water, erstwhile districts of Mahbubnagar, Nalgonda and Rangareddy will face irrigation and drinking water problems. Hence, he also asked the officials to move the Supreme Court for justice due to the delay being taken place in deciding Telangana's share of Krishna waters in Brijesh Kumar Tribunal.
