Guntur: The body of Covid-19 patient was shifted in a cycle-rickshaw to the burial grounds in Bapatla town on Wednesday. The patient died while undergoing treatment at the hospital in Bapatla town.

According to officials, an aged man who has been suffering from breathing problem was admitted in the Bapatla Area hospital for treatment.

He died while undergoing treatment. Doctors conducted Covid-19 tests on his dead body, and he tested positive for coronavirus.

Family members who admitted him in the hospital did not come to hospital to take his body.

Doctors informed the matter to Bapatla municipal officers. Hospital staff wrapped his body in a polythene sheet and handed over to the municipal staff who shifted the body to the burial ground on the cycle-rickshaw.

While the body was being shifted in the rickshaw, this news was telecast on TV channels. On learning about the news, Deputy Speaker in the State Legislative Assembly Kona Raghupati expressed ire over the officials. Municipal and hospital officials started inquiring to secure the details of the relatives of the deceased.
