Booth agents minting money
Selection of polling booth agents has become a big task to main parties as the present elections has been emerged as prestigious to both TDP and YSR Congress parties.
Visakhapatnam: Selection of polling booth agents has become a big task to main parties as the present elections has been emerged as prestigious to both TDP and YSR Congress parties. The polling booth agents, who are supposed to play a vital role in the electioneering, now having a big demand for their sincerity and liability to both TDP and YSRCP.
The booth agents have to recognise the voters, who are coming to cast their vote, at the local level. During the polling process, if any booth agent from any party, raise objection about a particular voter, the election officer of particular booth, after receiving a complaint from the agent, is supposed to check the particular voter's identity.
Due to importance of polling booth agents role, the parties cautioning the candidates to be very careful while nominating names as booth agents. Normally, the candidates, who are very much loyal to party and never to be influenced by rivals, will nominated as booth agents. In view of tough fight being held between the TDP and YSRCP, it has become a big task to nominate the names as booth agents to both parties.
The rivals will offer several sops to booth agents to observe silence during the polling. The parties will also offer a large number of sops to booth agents considering their strong loyalty to party. In the present political scenario, the TDP and YSRCP have fielded their strong candidates who are much loyal to the parties.
According to the Election Commission of India, one party can nominate four polling booth agents for each booth. Two agents will sit in the booth while two others will look after the voters outside the booth. The agents could be changed for rest according to the needs.
"The polling booth agents will play a crucial role in the electioneering. The party will nominate strong and orthodox loyalists as booth agents. In view of the offering big sops to the agents, YSR Congress Party has nominated committed party workers as booth agents," said YSR Congress Party senior leader P Diwakar.
Meanwhile, the TDP also nominated their strong and committed party workers as booth agents. "The present elections are life and death to the both TDP and Opposition party. We have to be very careful at each and every movement. The TDP polling booth agents never influenced by any one even the sops are very much attractive," claimed one of the TDP MLA contestants in the city, on the condition of anonymity.
