Vijayawada: Safai Karmachari National Commission chairman Manhar Valjibhai Zal suggested to the officials to make the state plastic-free. He took part in the Swachh Bharat programme at Besant Road here on Friday along with the officials. On the occasion, he said that the air and water are being contaminated with plastic which is harming the humans all over the globe.
Valjibhai Zal underlined the importance of conducting of awareness programmes regularly. He recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi also cleaned the beach by picking plastic waste. The people should remove plastic wherever they see it as Prime Minister Modi did, he said. He interacted with the sanitation staff and enquired about their living conditions.
Commission secretary Mahendra, consultant Puran Singh, joint collector Madhavi Latha, municipal commissioner P Venkatesh and several officials were also present.
