Chandrababu demands govt to revive free sand policy in Vijayawada
TDP national president N Chandrababu Naidu said that the TDP would extend support to the building workers and their families.
Vijayawada: TDP national president N Chandrababu Naidu said that the TDP would extend support to the building workers and their families. He distributed cheques worth Rs 1 lakh each to the family members of five building workers who committed suicide at a programme organised here on Thursday to express solidarity with them.
Speaking to media on the occasion, he said that the ministers and the MLAs were humiliating the victims and their family members. He demanded the ministers concerned to resign from their posts due to the failure in sand supply.
Several lakhs of building workers lost their livelihood due to lack of sand. When the building workers committed suicide, the state ministers were making comments belittling their suicide. The criminal cases should be registered against the ministers treating it as violation of human rights. The suicides of building workers should be treated as government murders, he said.
The state government was neglecting the poorer sections. They are facing hardships during the last five months due to failure of the government, he said. The government should behave with responsibility and Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy should be answerable to the situation.
He asked the Chief Minister as to why there was no sand scarcity in Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru cities. He said that the leaders of the YSRCP illegally transporting the sand to neighbouring states.
Naidu reminded Jagan that the YSRCP leaders had made false allegations against the then TDP government though the sand was provided free of cost. He asked the Chief Minister as to which sand policy was better to the people, whether in the TDP regime or present one.
He demanded the state government to restart the free sand supply policy. The TDP would fight for protecting the interests of building workers and as part of it his party would support Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan's long march.
The senior leaders of the party would participate in the protest, he revealed. The family members of building workers also explained their problems to the media. Several leaders of TDP were also present.
