Chandrababu Naidu Dashes Letter to EC on Transfers of IPS Officers

AMARAVATI: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has dashed a letter to Election Commission on the sudden transfer of three IPS officers in the state. He took serious objection on the action of EC and stated, "It is quite unfortunate that EC has also become part of a political plot hatched by the opposition." He mentioned that EC has floated all norms in transferring IPS officers, basing on the complain filed by YSRCP. Meanwhile, TDP Rajya Sabha member and advocate Kanakamedala Ravindrakumar, Jupudi Prabhakar have rushed to Delhi to meet CEC on the transfers and if EC fails to respond, they will approach the court.

It has to be recalled that on Tuesday late night, the EC has transferred Intelligence Bureau chief A.B. Venkateswara Rao, Kadapa and Srikakulam SPs. TDP is alleging that EC has not sought any explanation before transferring the three officials. It is arguing that in what way the IB chief is related to election duties as he only looks after the personal security of the Chief Minister and gives inputs about the latest developments in the state. It also asked that Chief Secretary, as well as IB chief, will not come under EC's purview.

The YSRCP Chief Jagan, party leaders Vijayasai Reddy, Botsa Satyanarayana, YV Subba Reddy, Ummareddy Venkateswarlu and others complained to EC from last one week that IG DGP Venkateswara Rao is acting at the behest of TDP leaders and also tapping their phones.

The TDP sources also arguing that there is no complaint on Rahul Dev Sarma, SP of Kadapa who is investigating YS Vivekananda Reddy's murder case along with SIT, impartially. However, the YSRCP leaders have made a baseless complaint against SP Venkataratnam, but EC has transferred both Rahul Dev and Venkataratnam, the sources said.
