Eluru: Deputy Chief Minister Alla Nani criticised that progress in Eluru Municipal Corporation during the previous five years was confined to papers and there was no reality in the version of officials.

He made these comments during the review meeting held at EMC here on Wednesday. He found fault with officials for failure to show works done physically. They were not even in a position to reveal facts relating to works shown on papers. There is mismatch between official version and real progress in case of works done with the 14th Finance Commission funds.

They showed negligence in spending SC/ST Sub-plan funds. With utter disregard to law, they had spent funds as per their wish and no quality standards were followed. To top it all, they even showed expenditure without doing works.

Going by all these, it was sad to say that the officials of the corporation flouted rules and confusion gripped the corporation over the progress of the works, he lambasted. Collector R Muthyala Raju also found fault with officials for failure to come up with details of works done.
