Amaravati: TDP national president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday accused the YSRCP government of hijacking the projects and programmes launched by the previous TDP government and renaming them after Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy without any scruples. He said that he had no objection for this strange practice since it would be only Jagan who would go down into history as a 'sticker CM' forever. This Chief Minister was not making any efforts to spend public money on any project or implement any new idea but was showing eagerness to own up the TDP projects as his own.
The Leader of Opposition made a scathing attack on the ruling party during the debate on the TIDCO houses in the AP Legislative Assembly. He said that CM Jagan had not begun any efforts in the past 18 months to start works on the 30 lakh houses he promised to construct for the poor.
He challenged the Chief Minister to construct new houses as per his promise and compare the same to the TIDCO houses built during the TDP regime. Instead of that, the YCP regime was giving advertisements, renaming TIDCO project after the CM's name and comparing it to the scheme implemented by the TDP. Over eight lakh houses were built for the poor by the TDP regime but the government was not giving them to the beneficiaries.
Stating that the poor families were being harassed, the TDP chief said that even the deposits were not being returned to the beneficiaries. Moreover, false advertisements were given in newspapers. The Chief Minister was having multiple palaces in different metro cities but he seemed bent on keeping poor people in huts forever.
He asserted that his government constructed best houses with shear wall technology and ensured successful grounding of the project. Modern tiles, stainless steel, cupboards, almirahs, drinking water and current facilities were all provided. Whereas, the 14.5 lakh houses project landed in corruption in the YSR regime.
