Visakhapatnam: There is a need to maintain a healthy environment in colonies, Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development Botcha Satyanarayana said.
Presenting 'Best Residents Welfare Association Awards-2019' at Dr Y V S Murty Auditorium, Andhra University College of Engineering here on Saturday, Satyanarayana said that he was impressed with the contributions made by the Andhra Pradesh Federation of Resident Welfare Associations (APFERWAS) in various activities undertaken by them and maintain a healthy environment in the colonies.
Madhavadhara VUDA and Marripalem VUDA Resident Welfare Associations (RWA), belonging to Zone IV of Visakhapatnam, bagged platinum awards. The competitions were conducted by APFERWAS. Two platinum winners got a cash award of Rs 40,000 each, while 13 other RWAs received gold awards that include a cash prize of Rs 25,000 and silver award winners received cash award of Rs 15,000 each.
Special Awards were given to another four RWAs while five individuals got recognition certificates for their exemplary services in RWA activities. On this occasion, the sponsors of the awards, Ananda Cityzen Trust, an arm of Fluentgrid Limited announced that they will enhance the award money to Rs 10 lakh from the next year. The awards were presented by APFERWAS as a token of appreciation for the good work done by the RWAs.
MP M V V Satyanarayana, GVMC Commissioner G Srijana, Director of Ananda Cityzen, Visakhapatnam Vani Gannamani, president of APFERWAS Uday Shirname and its associate president K S R Murthy were present at the award presentation ceremony that saw as many as 120 RWAs from across the city.
