Vijayawada: Cops crack 8-yr-old's killing, arrest 14-yr-old hostel inmate

Vijayawada: Challapalli police on Wednesday arrested a 14-year-old boy in connection with the brutal murder of a 8-year-old boy Dasari Adiya, who was found murdered in BC hostel in the town in Krishna district on Tuesday morning. The victim was studying Class II and had been staying in the hostel along with the accused.

A dispute broke out between the two while washing clothes on Monday and the next day morning the accused boy murdered Aditya by slitting his throat. Krishna district superintendent of police M Ravindranath Babu told media in Machilipatnam on Wednesday that the accused boy nursed grudge against the child due to the dispute that broke out in the hostel.

He said the accused child's father had a criminal history. He said the accused boy was very sensitive and he murdered the younger boy in cold blood.

The SP further said the accused had asked the boy at midnight to come to the bathroom and then committed the offence.

"The boy first tried to strangulate the victim but could not do it. Then he slit the throat," said the superintendent of police.

After killing the boy, the accused jumped the compound wall and fled.

The dog squad had traced the sharp knife used by the accused to kill the child. The two children are studying in the same school and staying in the same hostel as both located on the same premises. Dasari Adiya's brother Ashok is also is staying in the same hostel.
