Coronavirus in Vijayawada: 42 zones out of 64 declared as containment zones

With the increase of Coronavirus cases in Vijayawada, the government has put strict restrictions on the city to contain Coronavirus. In this backdrop, Krishna district collector Imtiaz made a key statement declaring 42 zones in the city in out of 64 as containment zones. With this while city is almost completely in containment. The 42 areas are the most crucial zones in the city where congestion in is high with commercial activities. They have all now gone into the containment zone. Among them, Indrakeeladri Durgamma temple also falls in containment area hence authorities imposed special restrictions on the arrival of devotees.

The Collector held a review meeting with other officials on measures to control Coronavirus in Vijayawada. The officials have expressed the view that corona control is the result of strict enforcement of lockdown and compulsory implementation of social distancing. The Collector had taken a hard decision stating from this point on, the Vijayawada people have to follow the government's rules condition and warned of legal action.

More than three-quarters of the wards have become containment zones. Barricades are being set up everywhere. Tough restrictions will continue in those 42 wards until the next orders
