Tirupati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for oberving Janata curfew from 7 am to 9 pm on Sunday has got a good response from all the citizens. Several city roads which are very busy on normal days were totally deserted.

Though PM called to observe Janata curfew voluntarily, goverment authorities and police took it seriously and wanted to impose the restrictions on movements stringently. But above all the increasing awareness among the public and their attitude of avoiding unnecessary risk of spreading the virus made them stick to their homes.

Parents have not allowed their children to come out of the streets following the closure of schools. Even the petty traders at the street corners were closed for the day. "We will not open the shop. Nothing will be lost if we close for one day. Let's see for the better days, "/one of the vendor said.

Also, the message stating that the idea behind Janata curfew was to break the chain of the coronavirus with the lockdown for 14 hours had gone viral on WhatsApp which also resulted in people's mindset and made them to stay back at homes. Except police sleuths no other was seen out during the first hour of the voluntary janata curfew.

In the view of Janata curfew, total transport sector came to a standstill. RTC is not operating any services for the day. Railways has cancelled all services which should commence journey from the midnight of Saturday to Sunday. However, the running trains will move as usual. Out of 14 flights being operated via Tirupati, 11 were cancelled and only three would continue its services. However, airports will remain opened. Auto rickshaws and taxis have remained off the roads totally.
