Amaravati : TDP MLC B Changal Rayudu on Tuesday accused the ruling YSRCP leaders of acting like super spreaders of coronavirus infections by not following preventive guidelines during the rallies held to mark the birthday celebrations of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at over 500 locations across the State.

Changal Rayudu expressed concern that the YSRCP revellers did not bother to wear face masks or observe social distancing or follow any Central government's guidelines at their rallies on Monday. The Jagan regime was continuing its criminal negligence with respect to Covid-19 infections at a time when four to five countries banned flights in view of threat from the second wave of the deadly virus.

Addressing a press conference here, the TDP leader deplored that the DGP, district collectors, SPs and the local officials concerned just watched the show as silent spectators while the YSRCP leaders behaved so irresponsibly at the rallies. The officials should at least book the cases now against those who violated the guidelines given by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). Instead of creating preventive awareness to check the virus spread, the YSRCP ministers and MLAs were acting in a way that would cause greater harm.

Changal Rayudu strongly objected to the reckless way the YSRCP ministers were spending public funds for publicity on Jagan's birthday.

Minister Balineni Srinivas Reddy openly spent huge public money. The Chandragiri MLA was also giving front page advertisements. The whole world was keeping birthday celebrations low profile because of coronavirus but the YSRCP leaders were going totally in a contrary direction.

Stating that the Chief Minister was adopting double standards on the local polls from the beginning, Changal Rayudu asked how the YSRCP held so many rallies with huge public mobilisation for the Chief Minister's birthday when it could not hold the local body polls because of the virus threat. The government even filed an affidavit that there was a growing danger from the infections only to create hurdles for the State Election Commission to conduct the polls. On every issue, the YSRCP was adopting contradictory statements.

The TDP leader deplored that the YSRCP forced the DWCRA group women members to attend the Chief Minister's birthday rallies by offering Rs 100 each. Those who did not attend the rally were asked to pay penalty of Rs 100 to the YSRCP leaders.
