Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu asked the police to crack the truth behind the murder of Y S Vivekananda Reddy as it was turning into a sort of fiction with different claims and allegations being made by YSRCP.
At a press conference late on Friday night, Naidu said while the death of Vivekananda Reddy pained him, it was unfortunate that the issue had taken so many turns and twists. He said it appears that a deliberate effort was made to destroy the evidence and efforts were made to project it as death due to heart attack. When their efforts failed as the post-mortem began, they started enacting a new drama, he said.
Naidu said anyone who had seen the body would in the first instance would have known that it is not a death due to heart attack. But a big drama was enacted. They did not even lodge a complaint with the police, nor did they tell the doctors that it was murder. It is also shocking that they removed the body to bedroom tied a bandage around his head and cleaned the blood stains in the bedroom. He said the police also failed to prevent the relatives from taking the body out of the house without inquest.
Naidu said the incident was brutal and there was no scope for such acts in democracy. He questioned why the family members shifted the body to the hospital when brutal injuries were found on the body. He said why the family members are demanding for a CBI probe. He found fault with the family members for demanding a CBI probe. It is more of a political game. He said the SIT has been formed to investigate the case. He has demanded that the full investigation should be made.
He said it is very sad that the own family members tried to destroy the evidence. Chandrababu Naidu further said it has to be found out who all came to the house after the incident, who tried to portray it as heart attack, why did they try to shield the culprits. He said the people should carefully go through the events that unfolded since morning and how the family members behaved after the incidents. He said the family did not lodge complaint till at 8 am and felt that there is an attempt made to escape from the crime and destroy the evidence.
The mute questions are: "Who told Avinash Reddy about it? Why did they ask police not to investigate? He said that "at 6.40 am, Avinash Reddy called police and said that Vivekananda Reddy died. He said that it was natural death. Then he asked the police to come for crowd management." Naidu said that all these facts need to be probed into by the police.
Meanwhile, YS Jaganmohan Reddy said that he would meet the Governor ESL Narasimhan on Saturday at 4 pm and submit a memorandum demanding CBI probe. Reacting to this Naidu said, "The drama has just begun. See what all happens now." He said it is unfortunate that Jagan has no faith or respect for any institution. However, he said the SIT has been directed to ensure that the case was probed thoroughly and establish the truth at the earliest.
