Disha App creates record, clocks two-lakh app downloads in a month

Disha App creates record: After the incident of Hyderabad veterinarian rape and murder in Telangana reported, the YSRCP government headed by chief minister Andhra Pradesh has brought a new act in the name of Disha to counter the heinous crimes on women. According to the act, the accused will be sentenced within a span of 14 days is found guilty.

On the other hand, the Government launched an app for women to report sexual harassment and abuse, workplace misbehaviour and domestic violence. They named the app Disha and women can complain on this app, without having to go to the police station. Their complaints will be registered under Disha act at Women cells for further investigation.

The Disha app now creates a record with 2 lakhs women downloading the app. As per reports, they registered cases about domestic violence, misbehaviour and sexual harassment said reports. However, the police have been left perplexed by seeing so many complaints within a span of thirty days. This is a new record for any government service related app.

The government has also set up the Disha police station at all district headquarters to intensify the trials in the cases related to crimes on women. Each Disha police station will be headed by a DSP rank officer, two circle inspectors and three sub-inspector for investigation and as many as 36 support staff would be available to assist the investigators.
