Unable to bear harassment by in-laws, a newly married woman committed suicide by hanging in her house near CSR Kalyan Mandapam at Tadepalli town of Guntur district in the wee hours of Saturday.
Guntur: Unable to bear harassment by in-laws, a newly married woman committed suicide by hanging in her house near CSR Kalyan Mandapam at Tadepalli town of Guntur district in the wee hours of Saturday.
According to police, the victim has been identified as Tadigadapa Venkata Durga, 20. Durga married Srinivasa Rao of the same village in May this year. At the time of marriage, Durga parents gave dowry of Rs 1.5 lakh. Durga husband Srinivasa Rao and in-laws were harassing her to get additional dowry for the last two months. Unable to bear the harassment, she committed suicide in the house at Tadepalli.
In a complaint lodged with the police, mother of the deceased Malleswari alleged that her son-in-law and in-laws harassed her daughter Venkata Durga for dowry and unable to bear their harassment she committed suicide. Based on the complaint, Tadepalli police registered a case.
