It wouldn’t be a surprise if they arrest me: Naidu

Visakhapatnam/ Amaravati: Will Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu be arrested? Perhaps it could be was the sharp reaction of Naidu who was in midst of a roadshow in Visakhapatnam soon after the news broke that the Election Commission has transferred Chief Secretary Anil Chandra Puneetha. The EC had appointed LV Subramanyam, a 1983 batch officer, as the new Chief Secretary.

The EC, it may be recalled, was unhappy with the CS that he had not followed their orders in shifting of three top police officers, including IG intelligence. The CEC had called the CS to Delhi and sought an explanation, but it appeared that it was not happy with the reply he had given.

Soon after that the YSRCP too had asked the EC to shift the chief secretary saying that he was not able to control other IAS officers in key departments like Revenue and as such the money transfer to beneficiaries under various schemes was continuing despite election code.

The government had argued that they had not violated any code since they were ongoing schemes. The EC had also recently issued an order saying that ongoing schemes need not be stopped.

A visibly agitated Naidu reacted saying that the way things were going on, the combination of Modi, KCR and Jaganmohan Reddy were jittery that all their conspiracies had failed and hence they have now stooped to such low levels of shifting all top officials.

"I will not be surprised even if they decide to arrest me. But I don't care, and I will continue to fight the evil forces as long as all of you are with me. Time has come to tell Modi and his team that I am not alone. There are five crore people behind me."
