Ongole: The bandh call given by the student unions demanding that the State government address various problems and issues at government schools and colleges was peaceful with the cooperation of the institutes, staff, and students on Thursday.

The committee formed by the members from Students Federation of India, All India Students Federation, Progressive Democratic Students Union coordinated with their organs in the district and saw no untoward incidents occurred.

District SFI president and secretary K Chinnapa Reddy and Ch Vinod, PDSU state vice-president L Rajasekhar, AISF district secretary Prudhvi directed three teams in the town to reach to the church center as rallies and form a human chain.

District PDSU president Dhanaraju, SFI district vice president Vishnuvardhan, AISF leader Vinay forced few institutes that rejected to participate in the bandh to shut down for the day.

The SFI district vice president Charitha, Soujanya, Rambabu, Sujana, Siva and others protested in front of the tahsildar office after closing the institutes. The SFI leaders Vinod, Arun, Sudhakar, and 150 others organized a bike rally in Chimakurthy and demanded the government to respond immediately to their demands.

Similar programs were done by the students' unions at Kothapatnam, Kondapi, Ponnaluru, Singarayakonda, Maddipadu, Lingasamudram, Addanki, Parchuru, Kanigiri, Markapuram, Cumbum, Giddalur, Dornala, Yerragondapalem, Darsi, Tripurantakam, Ulavapadu, Chinaganjam and other places.
