Fire breaks out at Vizag port, crane gets burnt down completely

Visakhapatnam : A major fire broke out at Visakhapatnam Port in the early hours on Monday.

Flames engulfed a crane stationed at the East Q7 berth which was completely gutted.

According to officials, a short circuit is suspected to be the reason for the accident.

It may be noted that two cranes met with a similar fate in just a gap of 15 days which turns out to be a cause for concern over the safety issues at port, giving rise to suspicion.

A couple of weeks ago, a crane was damaged at WQ-1 berth at the port in a fire accident.

The level of damage is yet to be ascertained.
