Kakinada: As many as 1000 Ganesh idols were immersed on the second day of immersion within the Kakinada Sub-Divisional police station limits here on Thursday. The officials made arrangements at four places to immerse the Ganesh idols in Kakinada.

Those idols which were below three feet were immersed at the Vinayaka Sagar near Jagannaickpur and those idols above 3 feet were immersed in two places in Warf Road and another near Vakalapudi beach.

The Municipal Corporation, Revenue and other departments have been extending their services by maintaining sanitation and providing cranes to take the idols for immersion and others.

The Kakinada DSP K Kumar said that nearly 1,000 Ganesh idols were immersed during the past two days successfully and no untoward incidents were reported. He said that when Nagara Ganesh Utsava Samithi tried to create hurdles for the immersion, the police pacified them and continued the event successfully.

He lauded the Kakinada Traffic DSP B Ramakrishna for his effective traffic management during the event. Meanwhile, Nagara Ganesh Samithi organizers staged a dharna at Jagannaickpur on Thursday evening and demanded that the officials develop the Vinayaka Sagar and it should be treated as `Balagangadhar Tilak Pranganam'.

The Samithi president, Duvvuri Subrahmanyam demanded that that the officials should rectify their mistakes and the officials who created flutter among Hindus should be suspended.
