Ongole: Minister for Environment and Forests Balineni Srinivasa Reddy and Minister for Education Adimulapu Suresh appealed to the general public to cooperate with the State government in developing the Prakasam district by implementing the welfare programmes effectively.

The ministers participated in the 64th Andhra Pradesh state formation day celebrations organised in the NTR Kalakshetram in Ongole on Friday morning. Speaking on the occasion, Srinivasa Reddy said that Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has taken all steps to make sure the welfare programs are implemented effectively in the state.

He announced that the first stage of the Veligonda project will be completed by the end of June 2020 and will provide water for the drinking and irrigation purposes. He also made sure that the works of Gundlakamma project canal will be completed soon to provide water to the farmers of last lands.

He announced that a special ambulance will be provided through the forest department for the service of people in the western area of the district. He said that the Andhra state was carved out from Madras state due to the sacrifices made by Potti Sriramulu and asked the public to not forget the services rendered by such leaders.

Suresh said that following the principles of Mahatma Gandhi that villages are the support of the nation, chief minister Jaganmohan Reddy formed the village and ward secretariat system and filled 1.40 lakh jobs at once.

He said that to strengthen the education system in the state, the government is providing more funds than ever and focus on fulfilling vacancies, promotions and upgrading syllabus. He said that the government will give Rs 15000 to all mothers who are sending their children to schools under Amma Odi scheme.

He said that the chief minister has taken the completion of Polavaram as the first priority and is giving the next importance to the completion of Veligonda project. He announced that to provide better health care to the western area people, the government will allow a medical college to Markapuram soon.

Ongole MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy assured the people that the pending issues like Ramayapatnam port, Donakonda industrial corridor, modernization of Buckingham Canal etc also would be taken to the notice of the chief minister for the development of the district. District collector Dr Pola Bhaskara, MLAs K Nagarjuna Reddy, Anna Rambabu, JC S Shanmohan and others also participated in the programme.
