Chittoor: District AYUSH Pharmacists Union President T Armugam expressed his resentment as the state government has not taken further steps for establishing a Panchakarma Super Speciality unit in Chittoor. The government has already released Rs.50 lakhs for the construction of the unit long ago, he said.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Sunday, Armugam said that AP government had sent the needful infrastructure like x-ray apparatus , 10 beds , tables and others worth Rs.52 lakhs for the proposed Panchakarma unit about five years ago.

``It is unfortunate that no decision has been taken by the government to establish the Panchakarma Unit. The furniture and the apparatus meant for the unit are kept idle for years, " he stated. He further said that 50 percent of the AYUSH dispensaries in the district are running by the compounders due to shortage of medical officers.

He appealed the government to take immediate steps for filling the doctors vacancies . It may be stated that 38 medical officer posts are vacant in 74 AYUSH dispensaries in the district .
