Green Goutami Eye Institute to set up hospital in Rajamahendravaram city

Rajamahendravaram: Green Goutami Eye Institute (GGEI) is coming up in the Grand City of Culture with international standards shortly, under the aegis of Sringeri Sarada Peetam.

Renowned ophthalmologist and chairman of Eye Foundation of America (EFA) and Goutami Eye Institute (GEI), Dr VK Raju, who was also a clinical professor of ophthalmology, planned the international institute with an aim for a 'world without childhood blindness'.

Speaking to 'The Hans India' here on Wednesday, GGEI in-charge and Dharmadhikari VV Kumar said that the proposed super speciality hospital will have world class equipment and facilities, it serve the needy irrespective of socio economic status across the country.

The institute will have DNB course in ophthalmology, school of optometry and vision care technician course. The institute also offers gene therapy in retinal diseases, in coordination with institutions having gene therapy in USA and other parts of the globe, he averred.

GGEI also takes up research to find new therapies for age-old eye diseases not curable. The proposed GGEI is a boon to the eye patients.

GGEI provides free service in the name of Sarvendriyam Nayanam Ptadhanam.

The institute had tie up with John's Hopikins Wilmer Eye Institute, Batlimore, Maryland of USA for gene therapy and other advanced eye treatment modalities and research. The foundation stone laying ceremony of GGEI was held recently and children who got vision, having blindness from their childhood participated.
