Guntur: Special Chief Secretary to government B Rajasekhar directed the Education department officials to take steps to impart quality education to the students.

He addressed a workshop held on schools mapping in Nadu-Nedu scheme at Patibandla Seetharamaiah High School in Guntur city on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Special CS said that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is trying to improve infrastructure in schools and educational standards to impart quality education to students. He instructed the officials to prepare school mapping taking students residing at interior and distance places into consideration and stressed the need to check dropouts in the schools.

School Education Commissioner S Suresh Kumar said that under the RTE Act, there should be one high school for every three kilometers for the convenience of students. He directed the officials to monitor facilities and teaching in aided and unaided and private schools.

District Collector Vivek Yadav said the government has taken steps to impart quality education to students and feeding quality food in midday meals. He felt that scientifically mapping of schools is useful to students of weaker sections.

The officials clarified doubts on mapping.

Samagra Shiksha Project Director Vetri Selvi, Regional Joint Director of Schools, Guntur, Subba Rao were among those present.
