Guntur: Guntur Municipal Corporation Commissioner and GMC Additional Election Authority Challa Anuradha directed the police officials to make necessary security arrangements at centres where nominations will be accepted from Wednesday to contest in the municipal corporation elections.

She conducted a meeting with the returning officers and police officers at the GMC Council hall on Tuesday. Speaking on this occasion, she said polling will be held at 531 polling booths in Guntur city on March 23.

She stressed on the need to provide special security at polling booths and sensitive and hyper-sensitive polling booths. She made it clear that they will allow two persons along with the candidate to file nominations. She further said that officials in the GMC head office will give permission to conduct meetings and rallies for the candidates. She urged the police to allot some officials for GMC. Guntur west DSP K Rama Rao said, they will make security arrangements at village secretariats where returning officers will take nominations.

GMC Additional Commissioner K Bhagya Lakshmi, Deputy Commissioner D Srinivasa Rao and city planner V Sunita were among those who participated.
