Kurnool: Heat waves are prevailing in the district as the temperatures touched the peak of the season at 41 Degrees of Celsius. Women, Children and old people were vulnerable to rising temperatures at several places in the district. The district collector S Satyanarayana had issued an advisory appealing the people not leave their homes between 10 AM and 4 PM. In the first week of March, the temperatures have reached to 38 degree Celsius and now it crossed to 41 degrees Celsius.

Since from last fifteen days, Kurnool district sizzled with temperature in most of the towns crossing 40 degree Celsius while the mercury in the district headquarter touched 41, the season's highest. Severe heat wave conditions have prevailed in most parts of the district.

Almost all towns virtually turned into a furnace. According to a report revealed, 41-degree Celsius of temperature was recorded at several Mandals including Kurnool, Atmakur, Nandyal, Kodumur and Chagalamarri. While, Pagidala, Devanakonda, Allagadda, Owk, Dhone, Adoni and Yammiganur in the district recorded a maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius. Streets wore a deserted look in Kurnool, Nandyal and other towns as people remained indoors to escape the blazing sun. It was the highest temperature of the opening days of the summer season.

Apart from this, the Medical and health officials appealed the people to avoid going out in open sun and should drink water at least 6 litres every day. District medical and health department authorities have cautioned the people that the heat waves prevailing in the district will show an adverse impact on their health. They have to follow health tips to prevent health disorders from abnormal temperatures being registered in this season. The authorities have said that they have taken preventive measurements to tackle the sun strokes
