Rain water inundates low lying areas in several villages disrupting vehicular movement

Kurnool: Heavy rains lashed the district in the early hours of Sunday. The rain which started at 2 am has lasted for three hours and rain water entered several low lying areas at Kolimigundla, Sanjamala and Owk mandals in Banaganapalli constituency and in Gonegandla mandal. The lakes and streams in these mandals were over flowing thereby hampering movement of vehicles.

With the overflow of lakes and streams in Gonegandla mandal the transportation between Ganjihalli and Bailuppula villages have come to a halt. The Mallem Vanka and Pedda Vanka streams between the villages were overflowing and the rain waters have submerged the high school and Anganwadi centre at Ganjihalli village.

Similarly, the rain waters have entered into the police quarters in Kolimigundla mandal. The residents have alleged that due to lack of proper drainage system the flood waters have entered into their quarters.

But the villagers in Banaganapalli mandal expressed happiness as the Daddanala project in the mandal received good rains. The residents have said that they have not earlier seen the project brim with flood water. With the streams overflowing at the mandals transportation has come to a complete halt. Similar situations were reported at Nandyal, Atmakur and other areas in the district besides Kurnool.
