The High Court of Andhra Pradesh has given the green signal for the local body elections. The notification to this extent will reportedly be issued on the 17th of this month. The High Court ordered the government to complete the election process to be completed by March 15. The local Body elections, which are supposed to be held in January were postponed due to reason unknown. However, with the High Court once again giving the nod for the elections, the state officials are prepping up for the polls.

Recently the High Court has issued key directions ordering the government to remove the YCP colours painted to panchayat offices in the state. The petition was filed in the AP High Court challenging the dyeing of YSRCP colours to the panchayat offices. The state election commission was suggested to take responsibility for the removal of colours painted to offices and has been ordered to file a counter against it. The next hearing on the petition would be February 5.

However, before the issue of notification, the government has to prepare a list of reservations. Once the list is ready, the State Election Commission will issue a notification for the conduct of MPTC and ZPTC elections and panchayat elections on February 17.
