Vijayawada: CPM district executive member Donepudi Kashinath has lambasted the State government for allotting house sites in Tulluru to the poor which were under litigation in the court. He described the house site distribution as a big farce and an election stunt.

Addressing the media at Sri Sri Bhavan here on Tuesday that foundation stone was laid for the construction of 11,000 houses at Singh Nagar, Jakkampudi on the outskirts of the city and 6,000 houses were at various stages of completion. "The construction of 1,000 houses was completed," he pointed out stating that for whom the houses were constructed.

Kashinath demanded that the house sites could be allotted to the poor from the 56 acres of Disneyland and other government lands. The CPM leader recalled that the Tulluru farmers were protesting against the house site allocation of their land which was given to the capital city construction and not for the house site for poor.

He said that the State government was stating that the house sites would be registered in the name of beneficiaries but before that the government should clarify which lands were not objectionable.

He said that the government announced that it had allotted Rs 125 crore for the retaining wall on the bund of river Krishna. "But before the construction, the poor people who were residing near the proposal wall should be given house site papers," he demanded.
